Drugged Love (A Night In Midsummer) is a modern LGBT adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's dream, written & directed by Kitty Harper - A graphic drama exploring the sexualities of 4 young adults, and gender identity of a teenage boy as we journey along their paths to self-discovery.

With a 16+ rating, the play involves nudity and sexual and graphic content.

Performed at The Quantum Exhibition Centre, Digbeth, Birmingham 25th - 29th April 2018 under NOMAD Drama.

Synopsis

A graphic drama exploring the sexualities of five young adults as we journey along their paths to self-discovery.

Travis and Marie are getting married in the morning, but when Marie tells her father about her love affair with Sandra, Marie's ethically judgemental father, Ian, denies her sexuality and forces her to wed Travis. Heartbroken, Marie does a runner with Sandra, and they hide out in the The Hidden Forest, a raving Swingers Club.

Marie's brother, Elliot, is secretly in love with Travis, and decides to tell him about the girl's love affair. They venture to The Hidden Forest to confront them, but then they discover something deeper within themselves.

The club is owned by Anya, who is battling with Ron, her ex-business parter, for ownership of the club. But Anya is oblivious to Ron's plans to frame her as he teams up with Paul, the in-house DJ. But his plan goes horribly wrong.

Like many 15 year old boys, Nick hangs out in a gang of friends, but is growing tired of ring-leader Pete's troublesome and misogynist behaviour. But what the gang don't know is that Nick has a secret identity: Nicola, a drag singer at The Hidden Forest.

Sick of being treated as the whipping boy, Francis wants to be more socially accepted by the group. He knows about Nicola. Should he protect his friend's identity? Or use this information to gain respect?
